Many outlets this week posted the first official photos of LiLo dolled up as Elizabeth Taylor in Lifetime's upcoming Liz & Dick; most left critiques to reader commentary, but some couldn't help but pass judgment themselves. Behold the following genius observations from the world's finest online publications:

On first glance you could swear that it was the real Elizabeth Taylor. But on second look the woman in the glamourous picture is actually Lindsay Lohan.

Washington Post:

That’s not a bad likeness, don’t you think? Of course, there are several factors to consider here: Primarily, that it was taken in a controlled environment and could have undergone editing.

Gawker:

Everything about this shot is flattering — the lighting, the angle, the fact that black-and-white photography makes it impossible to judge Lohan's current orangeness — but the resemblance is fairly impressive.

The makeup job looks quite impressive, helping to transform Lohan into Taylor. We’ll see — or rather, hear — if Lohan is able to reproduce Taylor’s tones as well.

You can tell so little from this — her eyes are closed, her head is back, and it's a still photo. All you are really seeing here is the simplest echoes they're trying to create. Whether Lindsay Lohan can play Elizabeth Taylor is something one might have strong opinions about, but this doesn't tell you very much in and of itself.
