Sahara Left Manila "A Whole Bunch of Shoes"
Manila Luzon has come out of mourning for a minute to give a new interview with People about the passing of his longtime boyfriend Sahara Davenport, who died last Monday from heart failure. It’s as sweet and touching as you might imagine — “I’m left cherishing his memories and carrying out his legacy… I was lucky enough to have time with him,” she says — but she’s also managed to keep her great sense of humor.
Talking about their passion for drag and the “superficial” mementos Sahara left behind, Manila notes, “She left me a whole bunch of shoes.”
Manila will compete on RuPaul’s All Stars Drag Race, which premieres Oct. 22 with an episode dedicated to Sahara’s memory. Also get ready to tweet all your good thoughts Friday during Logo’s marathon of Sahara’s RuPaul’s Drag Race season, and New Yorkers will want to attend a public memorial Nov. 2 at XL nightclub.
