Queen Please Q&A: Sahara Davenport
Five questions for RuPaul’s Drag Race alum Sahara Davenport, a trained dancer who now has a single, “Go Off!,” rising on the Billboard Dance Charts.
DLNQNT: If you had your own fragrance, what would it be called and what would it smell like? Sahara Davenport: It would be called Desert Rose. It would be a spicy and sweet combo — imagine chocolate with a hint of cinnamon.
What’s the most valuable advice your drag mother ever gave you? To always sniff my meat before I bite into it.
If you threw up right now, what would probably come out? The most beautiful assortment of Xanax and Tic Tacs.
Which celebrity do you look most like — as a girl and as a boy? As a girl, I happen to think I look like Tyra Banks or Zoe Saldana. Some have compared me to Sherée Whitfield from RHOA. As a boy, I get Nick Cannon or Pharrell.
Selflessly plug something that you have nothing to do with. Don't tell Manila Luzon — my partner of six years — but I've been obsessing over Colton Ford recently. I love his voice and image. There are so many gay male artists trying to be Britney Spears and Madonna, and there’s nothing wrong with that, but his energy is refreshingly masculine. I'd love to do a duet with him. Let's make it happen!
